He came.
He saw. He Fell in Love. Quite a lot of time and paper would
be needed, if we wanted to write something about all of
his little passions. But the one that DJ Sylvain fell in
love on the first sight and totally changed his life was
just one - music. He started to flirt with it already as
a teenager, and become passionately in love after he discovered
the world of mixing, decks, black vinyl and glamorous nightlife
in some of the greatest clubs in north Mediterranean area.
He stucked with it and became master of his profession.DJ
Sylvain (birth name Silvano Fortuna, lives in Ljubljana,
Slovenia) started his music career as a teenager and already
in the early 80s became one of the most popular Slovenian
deejays. He mixed and coproduced over 50 compilations (great
bunch of them reaching gold and platinum status) and remixed
various Serbian, Croatian and Slovenian projects wich are
successful in Italy, Germany, Chech Republic and some East-European
countries. |
He was resident of clubs such as
Valentino, Black Jack, Titanic, Eldorado and Lipa, became
a resident of Fun Factory and started his biweekly residency
in Studiu club in January 2006. His career peaks are also
regular 10.000 + capacity hall and open air parties, on
which he performs as solo star deejayPerfect Mix is Just
a Start In the world of deejay clones, which promote themselves
as a great technicians, for Sylvain the art of turntablism
and perfect mixing is only the first step in the art of
deejaying. Hes not stranger to simultane three-decks mixing,
but what defines him most and makes him unique in comparison
with his peers is his own music taste and personal interaction
with the crowd. His sets are musical journeys with perfect
rising and lowering of the energy on the dancefloor, skill
which defines all great turntable masters. Although his
passion for good music is unlimited, he established himself
with versatile house sets, reflecting the hot north-Mediterranean
influences with strong vocal lines mixed with German and
Scandinavian minimalistic and electro sounds. The other
side of his musical character is eclecticism: he likes
to play with records, combines classical vocal house with
fresh edgy sounds, crooses the boundaries between soft
and sharp, sweet and rough, deep into experimental electronica.
In his sets you can hear small personal touches made with
the sounds from the 80s and 90s, which he grew up and
as a musician evolved with, but are unknown and fresh
to younger clubbers. After all this years he still takes
time to experiment with harder, less compromising sounds
in backrooms of big clubs, although hes mostly known as
a navigator for big arenas in which he has to put in the
move dancers with very diverse music taste. Since this
is the thing that doesnt cause him much trouble, promotors
regularly book him to perform with global stars such as
David Guetta or Martin SolveigRadio & Productions
Sylvain is part of the radio and stage crew Explicit Musick
which is supported by Sharkastique Tunes and Consumer
Recreation record labels. Working under alias hes also
co host of the only Slovenian daily deejay radio show
for more than a decade. Hes currently working on the follow
up of his most successful tune If I (Fell In Love), which
became massive hit in 2005 after it was picked up for
TV commercial by Vodafone company. In his production Sylvain
tries to catch music reflection of the unique club scene
caught in dominant Italian (hot, groovy, chill out Mediterranean
style) and German (clever Alpine coldness with lots of
electro and techno spins) influences. Thats also what
Sylvain is like he spends most of his free time in a gym,
seaside in the summer and skiing on frozen Dolomite slopes
in the winter. And yes, he still regularly falls in love,
although the music remains his greatest passion
